Estimates, labeled as estimates
Apple does not publish search volume without an Apple Ads account, so demand is an estimate: how established the apps in a search's top 10 are, weighted toward the top. We checked it against Apple Ads' own popularity scores for 97 US searches and it ranks them in the same order with a correlation of 0.60. Useful, not exact, and we say so on every screen.
Difficulty looks at the apps you would have to pass to reach the top 10, and how many of them carry the exact phrase in their name. The full method is on how Altitude measures.
Where the keywords come from
When you add your app, Altitude builds candidate searches from your name, description and category, checks each one live and keeps the ones worth tracking. Following a competitor adds the searches it ranks for, each with a Track button. You can also type any keyword yourself.
What it costs
Free covers 10 keywords on one app. Pro is $5 a month for 100 keywords on each of 3 apps. See pricing.
Questions
Is the demand score the same as Apple's search popularity?
No. Apple's popularity comes from Apple Ads. Ours is estimated from public search results and agrees with Apple's ordering at a correlation of 0.60 on the searches we tested.
Are demand and difficulty available for Google Play?
Not yet. Google Play search pages show no rating counts, which the estimate needs.
