App Store keyword field checker
Results
Paste your name, subtitle and keyword field, then press Check. Nothing is saved.
What it checks
- Length: 30 characters for the name, 30 for the subtitle, and 100 bytes for the keyword field (100 English letters; fewer accented or Asian ones).
- Spaces after commas. Apple asks for commas with no spaces, and each space uses a byte.
- Words repeated inside the keyword field.
- Words already in your name or subtitle, which Apple advises not repeating.
- Singular and plural pairs, which Apple treats as duplicates.
- Filler words like “the” and “to”, and generic words like “app”, which Apple advises leaving out.
Why every character counts
Apple matches searches against your app name, subtitle, keyword field and category, and its own guidance is not to repeat a word across them. So every repeat you remove is room for a search you do not rank for yet. Each finding links to the Apple page it comes from. Our guide to the 100 character keyword field goes deeper.
See if the change worked
A cleaner keyword field only matters if your ranks move. Add your app to Altitude and it checks every keyword for you (weekly on Free, daily on Pro), so you can see the weeks before and after your next release. Your first app is free.
Questions
Do I need spaces after commas in the keyword field?
No. Apple asks for keywords separated by commas with no spaces, and the limit counts every byte, spaces included.
Should I repeat my app name in the keyword field?
No. Apple says your app is already searchable by its name and company name, and advises not repeating words from the name or subtitle.
Is anything I paste saved?
No. The check runs once on our server and nothing is stored.
